Dr. Shakardokht Jafari

Biography
Dr. Shakardokht Jafari is one of Afghanistan’s pioneering, inspirational women scientists. She was born in 1977 (1356 in the Afghan calendar) in Daykundi province. Her childhood was shaped by war and insecurity, forcing her family to leave their homeland and seek refuge in Iran.
Despite the hardships of refugee life, she never let go of her big dreams. With persistence and dedication, she earned a degree in radiation technology from Tabriz University. After returning to Afghanistan in 2004 (1383), she served as a radiology lecturer at Kabul Medical University, playing a key role in educating a new generation of Afghan youth.
In 2010, she moved to the UK to pursue higher education at the University of Surrey, where she studied medical physics. During her research, she invented an innovative method to measure therapeutic radiation doses using tiny glass beads—a breakthrough that led her to establish the company TRUEinvivo, now a global player in improving cancer treatment accuracy.
Dr. Jafari has received numerous prestigious awards and is recognized internationally as one of Afghanistan’s foremost scientists and entrepreneurs.
Beyond her scientific and business achievements, she is deeply committed to empowering Afghan youth through education. She is the founder and chairperson of Education Bridge for Afghanistan (EBA)—an organization that builds educational bridges between Afghanistan and the world, offering scholarships, learning opportunities, and empowerment programs for Afghan students.
